Victoria Soames Samek and John Flinders formed their duo partnership in 1998 with the aim of promoting the clarinet and piano repertoire in all of its diversity, both through performance and education.

As teacher and accompanist in the GHSMD junior department they are committed to sharing their experience by coaching a new generation of musicians. As performers they have travelled widely, and made their Purcell Room debut as a duo in 1999; their first CD On the Wings of English Melody displayed the inventiveness of their programming, and the numerous reviews reflect the success of their approach .

Gramophone called it A first rate programme….. impeccable performances. The Sunday Times’ comment was Beautifully played, and BBC Music Magazine described it as Highly enjoyable. The American Record Guide’s verdict was ….an interesting, well executed and beautifully recorded disc. Victoria Soames exudes confidence at every turn: her tone is strong and her technique sure-footed and impressive. John Flinders’ confident and sensitive accompaniment should not be overlooked.
